Designed for universal compatibility with most NVG mounts, Ops-Core Shrouds provide a secure attachment at the front of the helmet for NVGs, video cameras, illuminators, and other components. Choose the lightweight Skeleton Shroud, which provides multiple attachment points for added strength; the Skeleton One Hole Shroud for easier installation; or the VAS, the original Ops-Core shroud, with less attachments and slightly higher weight to maintain consistency with previously fielded helmets. Both style shrouds are compatible with ballistic visors to offer several options for fully integrated face protection.
- Modular Bungee Shroud (MBS) is the lightest weight night vision shroud available.
- Comprised of a molded outer housing and a machined removable insert that can be swapped out to provide different mounting solutions within the same shroud platform.
- The Ops-Core MBS has an integrated NVG bungee that is less likely to interfere with accessories.
- The Ops-Core MBS uses a much shorter bungee which will be less likely to create a snag hazard and creates a low-profile option for stabilizing NVGs.
I have had a few shrouds over the years. Ops core skeleton, wilcox 4hole hybrid, norotos universal shroud, and now the Ops core MBS. Overall, it's a nice shroud. The changable plate snaps in fairly tight on its own, tight enough to hold a aka2 with a pvs15 and a ab mod3 gain version set of binos without the screws that hold it securely. Not suggesting this is advisable, just that the plate is very secure in its shroud. Comes with foam padding to take up the slop. Which I was a tad disappointed it had more slop brand new than my 10yr old ops core skeleton shroud... however, none of my other shrouds or friends (team wendy bump) have ever been as nice of a fit. My other shrouds could have benefited from foam sticky pads just as well. So not a big let down, as we know how all of them can and do vary as it is. I love the incorporated bungee, but disclaimer!!! You'll most likely need or want a g24 or norotos low sto to actually be able to use it. Aka2 and others that have a larger "swing" to them, will most likely stretch the living **** out of the bungee to a point of possible* failure. I say possible bc i didn't push my luck, and swapped out to a g24 wilcox. The bottom of the shroud still has an opening if you chose to continue to run your orignal ops core rail bungees. I found this to be nice, bc my 4 hole hybrid did not. My only worry is / and or will be getting replacement bungees for it. If it were to wear or fray now, there isn't an option that I know of to order a replacement immediately, or to have on stand by. However I'm fairly confident that Gentex would be able to supply a replacement bungee if and when it were to break. Would just be nice to have one on stand by, or even in a different / contrasting color. Ie tan on green green on black etc. (I have my kits mixed) I do believe that the SF upgrade package is worth it! I have both foliage green and Tan for both of my old carbons.
Awesome product, awesome customer service
