Body Armor Purchase Restrictions

(CT) Connecticut:  Internet sales for CT are only allowed if you meet and provide the proper credentials for certain cases listed below:

  1. Authorized officials or sworn members of local police departments, the State Police, the Division of Criminal Justice, the Department of Correction, or the Board or Pardons or Parole;
  2. Authorized municipal or Department of Administrative Services' officials who buy body armor for the above agencies;
  3. Authorized Judicial Branch officials who buy body armor for probation officers; and
  4. Members of the National Guard or armed forces (CGS § 53-341b).

(NY) New York: Effective July 6, 2022, when not being engaged or employed in an eligible profession, the purchase, taking possession of, sale, exchange, giving or disposing of body armor is prohibited.  People engaged or employed in eligible professions include:  

  1. Police officers; 
  2. Peace officers; 
  3. Persons in military service in NYS or military or other service for the United States; and 
  4. Such other professions designated by the Department of State in accordance with section 144-a of the Executive Law. 

All other States: For everyone else, purchasing body armor is perfectly legal to purchase online, so long as you aren't a felon.  Certain types of Body Armor may require identification to meet EAR / ITAR regulations however.

International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR)

When purchasing an ITAR restricted item you must be a legal US citizen. Export of the commodities described herein is strictly prohibited without a valid export license.  A statement will appear at the bottom of each restricted product's page indicating export restrictions apply in accordance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulation. 

If additional documentation is required, you will be contacted within 24 hours of placing your order. (Such as but not limited to a completed *ITAR compliance acknowledgement form with your original signature and/or a government issued ID. If additional documentation is requested, your order will not ship until it has been completed.) 

Export of the commodities described herein is strictly prohibited without a valid export license issued by the U.S. Department of State Office of Defense Trade Controls prescribed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), Title 22, Code of Federal Regulation, Parts 120-130. 

Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

These items are controlled by the U.S. Government and authorized for export only to the country of ultimate destination for use by the ultimate consignee or end-user(s) herein identified. They may not be resold, transferred, or otherwise disposed of, to any other country or to any person other than the authorized ultimate consignee or end-user(s), either in their original form or after being incorporated into other items, without first obtaining approval from the U.S. government or as otherwise authorized by U.S. law and regulations.
