The Wilcox Rapid Acquisition Aiming Module (RAAM UGL-FCS) is designed under a teaming arrangement with Vectronix, Inc. for use with the HK GLM, Colt M 203 9” QD and 12” Barrel.
A motorized Gimbal housing visible and infrared laser pointers automatically articulates to indicate the proper weapon elevation necessary to match the trajectory of 40mm grenade in flight to hit its intended target.
The Laser/Input Button allows the operator to lase the target in IR or VIS mode, or to input menu options in any menu selection mode.
The ballistic computer takes real time data from built-in sensors and adjusts the actual range to a compensated “ballistic range” by factoring in the temperature and tilt.
The grenadier aligns the sight to the target utilizing the built in lasers or a mounted reflex sight.
Pressing the Engage Button causes the gimbal to rotate to the appropriate angle and activates the Cant Indicator which is color coded and shape defined for use with NVG’s. The grenadier then simply realigns the target and fires.
A single press and release of the Range/Select Button cancels the process to start over.
The system features a remote control pad that allows the operator to select laser or range modes when necessary. A shrouded anti-snag windage and elevation adjustments for easily boresighting the RAAM to the weapon. The system maintains these setting until reset by the operator.
The RAAM can be mounted and dismounted from a weapon with a MIL-STD-1913 rail without the need of tools by means of two thumb nuts for RIS/RAS mounting or Wilcox’s Cam Mounting System (patent pending).
The display brightness automatically dims for day/night operation and can be user adjusted.
The RAAM’s battery compartment houses two CR 123 batteries which provide approximately 500 ranges.
All optics on the RAAM feature and anti-reflective coating and can be shrouded with an optional Tenebraex honey comb Anti-Reflective Device (ARD) for off angle protection.
A separate version of the RAAM features eye-safe lasers.
